Window by twodimensions Window by twodimensions
This is something I made as a practice, trying to learn the basics of GIMP. Theres a few things that need re-doing/correcting, especially the pixellised clouds (I used GIMPS glass tile plug-in on the clouds to try and give it a glassy effect, but it came out more pixellated :P)

I'll make a cleaned up version of this eventually

Made with apophysis and gimp, using this photo from athenastock

This highly reminds me of the architecture of the Skeksis' castle in The Dark Crystal, for some reason. The repeated patterns of the spiral, and how the windows always fit within a distinct design specification...kind of gives the impression of 'falling into' the windows, the dizzying ambiguity of not precisely knowing the viewer's err, point-of-view :)

I like it a lot. Keep playing with GIMP.

I'd say an Asgard or Tollen (sp?) ship, too organic for Go'auld. Very cool work.

:) The thumbnail drew my attention and i can honestly say :D a closer look even looks better! :+fav:

;) I may try something similar. For now Apophysis has all the cards. Funny you said it looks a bit like a Goauld ship. :D One of my fractals has the shape of one of the smaller triangular vessals. It's still in 'scraps' though.

To spice this image up, you could add one or more layers with textures on them. The you can choose opacity add colour or whatever. :) Instead of using eFeX you can add the clouds on a separate layer. Forgive me ;) I'm just rambling on here. Your art should reflect your personality, not what others think or like it to be. Use my suggestions as you like.

:D Looking forward to seeing more of your work ;) and ofcourse, your prints are very interesting too. :) Just the other day i walked into a local craftsshop that has lots of frames to choose from, and i'm now tempted to buy prints as well as open my own print-account.

:D Anyways, enough about me. I wish you lots of fun experimenting and in support of your fabulous work, added you to my friends / watchlist.

:D See you around :w00t: Cheers!

Thanks so much for the add! I'm really glad you're into fractals as well :) The goauld ship one sounds interesting, it'd be worth a post :)

This is one of my older works, when I was just starting out with fractals and with GIMP. I'm planning on doing a new version once all my exams are over, to see if I can apply what I've learnt over the last few months.

What do you mean by eFeX? I used the clouds as the background layer, and then added everything else on top of it.

:D You're welcome Sophia and i think you did the same as what i would've i.e. using the clouds on a separate layer or on the background layer. ;) 'eFeX' is just my shorthand version of 'effects'.

Sometimes images on a layer become pixelated after you use an effect or resize them. Maybe that's what happened here. Ayway, ;) no worries.

:D I wish you good luck on your exams and thank you too  for the :+fav: and adding me to your list. :w00t: Cheers!

ahh. The pixelised look is bcause I usd a glass tile filter on the clouds in GIMP, at the time I had no other glassy filters, and the raw photo looked a bit odd :) I've found more since then! It's sometimes difficult working only with freeware

I thought eFeX was some photoshop term :P Thankyou!

I have an idea!.....For every degree a year the Earth's temperature rises...we get to execute the same number of board members from each of the major oil compainies.

THis is by far the best I've seen of you, the reliefs are really well done and in fact for me they work so well with the sky background making and interesting mizture of colours.
Very original fractal, examples of fractals like this are rarely seen :)

The displayed concept results to be very nice to the sight and also the application of the relief to the spiral decorated window grants it a really good and fitting volume, which also makes a nice contrast with the clouds of the background.

IMHO, adding further some lighting games to this set would ice the cake. Nice work.
